Hey, I didn't get one!

Federal Agents with the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives division have begun an informal investigation into the Smith County Sheriff's Department. The investigation involves the wherebouts of more than 300 shotguns purchased as military surplus back in 1997. The Sheriff's Department can officially account for just 21 of the guns.

" No criminal charges are expected to be filed. "

Then why bother investigating?

Seriously, can we EVER expect charges on "only ones" to be filed equal to what private citizens would expect had they stolen the equivalent value of federal taxpayer funded equipment, then made it "disappear"?

The greatest irony is that the "investigation" in which no charges will likely be filed is costing taxpayers MORE.

Is there no end to the fraud, waste, and abuse of We The Taxpayer?
