Eric Garner and Omnipresent Police Power

The Eric Garner case is a reminder that government is force, and more government equals more force.
In a city where everything is taxed and regulated and you can’t put trans-fats in your food or buy a soda that’s too large, it makes perfect sense that they would harass a guy for selling cigarettes on the streets without permission. After all, they’re bad for people. Somebody might die.

The power of the Grand Jury needs to back to the people.

I don't agree with the grand jury this time. The cop that killed Mr. Garner should be fired immediately charged with murder. The grand jury in Ferguson did the right thing. The one in New York did the wrong thing. It is absolutely excessive force to kill someone over a shitty minor charge like that. I hope that cop gets sent to prison eventually and I will agree with the protestors over this one.

Right on Anon 7:32am! National Liberty Alliance is in a battle right now to get common law grand juries back and end this nonsense of a D.A. leading a grand jury around by the nose. Grand juries being secret, we'll never know just what charges the D.A. brought against the cop on Staten Island. For all we know the charges had nothing to do with murder. A true grand jury, one run by the People, not a D.A. can issue a "presentment" which carries as much weight as an "indictment". Oh, but the powers-that-be don't like the People having that much power. Hell, we just might start writing presentments on them!

Hallelujah! The spotlight is finally shining on a case that's not a bunch of overhyped hand-wringing over some euphemized and euthanized violent thug.

This is so far off the standard narrative that I can't help wonder if it's a mistake. I keep expecting one of the talking bobbleheads on the teevee to blurt out something like "Waitaminnit, selling cigarettes? Ah hell, we got punked. The memo said he was coordinating a public beheading festival. This was supposed to be an exposé on NYPD's lack of diversity training. Ok moving onto our next story, winter is cold."

Killed for a few cents of tax revenue. Much like the Branch Davidians in Waco, in fact.
