It's a good thing this state is small. If one needs to get to the northeast sector, a drive around is easy. And if it's DC you must go to, enter through Virginia, though you should probably leave your sidearm and CHL in the Virginia hotel safe.
Mike, What about FOPA?? Maybe someone with more legal knowledge can address why MD (and others) are conveniently ignoring this law to the detriment of honest folks. Seems to me this is an open door for a lawsuit that would be quite costly to MD as they are violating Fed law and possibly civil rights??
This is being done on Interstate 95 by the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. NOT Maryland State Police nor any county sheriff office. Mainly those 600 who patrol Baltimore area.
Finding whether one has a CCW or not may well be done under color of law as 'part of a criminal investigation'. Even though CCW lists/data are private in most states, they can be accessed by LEO's as part of 'a criminal investigation'. With that in mind: So MTAP follows along in traffic auto-scanning everybody's plate and having dispatch inquire (or a computer program) to your home state (or any state) for a possible CCW. If they get a CCW hit, they'll conjure up a reason to pull you over and the fun begins. That's my guess, as it's quite plausible that's what these jackboots are doing. Important to note that ANY LEO anywhere could do this.
